  1. 9/23/2016 DISTRICT STAFF IMPLEMENTING ADDITIONAL PROCEDURE FOR NEWLY CONSTRUCTED SEWER MAINS
  2. The District plans to add an additional inspection requirement – inclination testing - to its developer check-list for newly-constructed sewer mains.

During the construction of a new development, the District requires developers to satisfy several check-list specifications prior to sewer mains being conditionally accepted, entering a one-year warranty period. Developers must provide air testing, deflection testing and video inspection records as part of the acceptance process.

The District has decided to add an inclination test and inspection of all newly-constructed sewer mains to confirm that they are constructed at the proper slope or gradient for effective gravity flow of wastewater. This testing will be performed by the District, the cost will be the responsibility of the developer.

Inclination testing is performed by video cameras equipped with an inclinometer (hardware that detects and records the “pitch” or downhill measurement of the pipe). This is a critical tool which confirms enough fall is present to carry debris with the wastewater flow for a properly functioning sanitary sewer system.

Questions about this new requirement and procedure can be directed to Tony Cocozzella or Scott Hand at 303-979-2333.
